Our Story

Play-Based Tutoring That Builds Confidence and Makes Learning Feel Possible

At The Curiosity Classroom, I believe that learning should be an exciting adventure! Based in Churchdown and drawing on almost fifteen years as a qualified primary school teacher, I created The Curiosity Classroom to provide personalised, hands-on tutoring for primary school children in a warm and supportive environment. Using a play-based approach, I design engaging learning experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence, and support progress in reading, writing and maths. Every child learns differently, so sessions are carefully tailored to each individual, helping them feel successful, capable and motivated to learn.

What makes The Curiosity Classroom special is the genuine connection I build with every child. I don't just teach the curriculum - I nurture curiosity, encourage problem-solving, and help children develop a positive growth mindset. Your child isn't just another student here; they're a young explorer on their own unique learning journey.

My aim is to transform traditional tutoring into something children actually look forward to. Parents often tell me how their once-reluctant learners now arrive excited for their sessions and leave feeling proud of what they have achieved, with growing confidence both academically and personally. If you're looking for more than just academic support - if you want your child to experience the joy and excitement of learning - I would love to welcome you to The Curiosity Classroom.

Our Approach

How We Make Learning Meaningful

Three principles that shape the way I support every child.

No. 01

Learning Shaped Around Your Child

Every child is unique. Sessions are carefully tailored to their individual needs, strengths, interests and learning style, with the right balance of support and challenge.

No. 02

Learning Through Play

Games, practical resources and hands-on activities help make learning engaging and meaningful. Children can explore new ideas, practise important skills and develop their understanding without it feeling like more school.

No. 03

Confidence at the Heart

Children learn best when they feel safe, supported and able to have a go. I celebrate effort and progress, helping children develop confidence, resilience and a more positive relationship with learning.

What Parents Say

Why Parents Choose The Curiosity Classroom

Her teacher has messaged to say the results of the most recent maths test she did has doubled in percentage from last time. You are clearly making an impact on her learning & we can't thank you enough!
A Curiosity Classroom parent

He said he enjoyed the session. In all his years of school he has never had a positive word to say about it so you should take this as a huge compliment!

We just can't believe how far she has come over the past year. We truly believe that your support, encouragement, and patience have played such a big part in helping her grow in both her learning and her confidence.

We are extremely happy, our child loves coming to the Curiosity Classroom, they leave the session keen to tell us what they have learnt and how much fun it has been. This style of teaching / learning is great for them. Their confidence is definitely growing, they always come out happy and enthusiastic.

He finds school so hard and doesn't enjoy it and wants it to be fun like you make it as he understands when you explain.

We are really pleased with her progress and that you have understood in such a short time, the areas that she needs help with. She loves the sessions as you know and it's great to see!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! The help you've given D has been invaluable. She's grown in confidence, both personally and educationally, since she started with you. There are no words to describe how proud we are of her. Thank you again xxx

My daughter has loved the group sessions she has attended during the holidays. She comes out of Curiosity Classroom excited about what she has learnt. Working in a group sessions suits her personality, as she enjoys learning from others.

He has developed his learning and skills at a much improved rate since attending sessions. Both us and the school have been very impressed by how much he's come on since starting the sessions.

She has made a noticeable improvement, I feel. If she hadn't started 1:1's with you, I really don't know where she would be right now as school don't seem to be able to give her the extra help I feel that she needs.

Thank you so much for everything you've done for her. We can't thank you enough for being such an important part of her learning journey. As a family, we are incredibly grateful for all that you do. ❤️
